Hello all

I have been a long time member of this forum but never posted due to this forum always already having the answer i needed. But i just had to retire my 97 explorer sport and got a 2003 explorer sport with 4.0 SOHC. I heard something rattling in the oil pan, so i dropped the oil pan only to find broken pieces of plastic that I can not figure out what they go to. Here is a picture of what I pulled out. Any guesses at what it is would be great. I am clueless at this mystery.

Thanks

looks like a timing chain guide

woah!if thats the chain guide don't drive it until it has had new guides tensioners and chains installed.i think those are interference motors that can bend valves if the timing goes out.:eek:i've heard about those motors having problems with the guides.
