I know having wide tires on narrow rims can create wallowing handling issues, how about narrow tires on wide rims??

33x10.5 on 10" wide rims?

Any issues with running low pressures?

..With narrow tires on narrow rims you probably won't find anyone to mount them as they are unsafe...

..Even with normal pressure you can break the bead while cornering and have a tire go flat...Running low pressure as in wheeling, will let the tire walk off the rim pretty quick...:dunno:

I have seen 245mm tires on 17x10 rims. The owner runs them aggressively for years with zero problems.

...A 9.65" tire on a 10" wheel???...On an Explorer???

correction, 8" rims, I though they were 10" but NOT.:(

According to BFG's site, this is right in the middle of their recommended width range.

Now I have to decide if 10.50 is wide enuugh for what I do:rolleyes:

...Check their site for tread width...;)

...Tires are different widths even if it is the same brand...Saying they are 10.5", they can measure 9.25" at tread width...:dunno:

on 15 inch rims this isnt 100% true b/c of the little rim lock lip that holds the bead on....with something like a 16.5 the rim needs to be at least 2 inches narrower...otherwise when the tire gets below 20 the beads can just pop sitting in a parkin lot.....i work a a tire shop and have come across many different things and for example, a 33X10.5 can be mounted on a 12 inch rim and if kept above 40, you wont have a problem other than riding the sidewall at highspeed in the sharp corners...

...Driving on a sidewall at anytime on road is not safe..

....Even though this can be done, I'm sure the tire manufacturer would release liability and the tire shop would be solely responsible...Tire manufacturer specs/instructions, supercede all else except federal law...

...Each manufacturer has info to what size/model of their tire can be mounted to what size wheel, and the specs the wheel should have to mount their tire to..
