Does anyone know for sure what in-dash navigation system (with XM radio, CD player, IPOD connection) will fit in the 2002 Eddie Bauer Explorer?

I don't mean to be facetious, but they will all fit.

You just have to look at the pros and cons of each system. Take into consideration all of the features that come with it vs. all of the features that are add-ons. I.E. my Eclipse AVN6620 doesn't come with any of the features you listed, however, you can purchase them all.

I appreciate you taking the time to response but I'm afraid according to Pioneer & Kenwood, you're wrong. According to both of their websites, the all inclusive system I want for my son does NOT fit in a 2002 Eddie Bauer Explorer. There is one with a flip screen that they say does but I don't want the moveable screen. Now unfortunately, Best Buy and Circuit City claim they will fit but they can't find an installation that they have ever done in this model so I have to believe the website for the manufacturer's is correct. That's why I'm looking for someone that knows for sure if and what would work.

I assume your speaking of the Pioneer AVIC-Z3 or the Kenwood DNX series. Both of which are double DIN and will fit in a 2002

Thanks for your help - the two models we looked at were Pioneer AVIC F700BT and the kenwood DNX5120 - I hate to sound like a gorl, but this is so frustrating. We are trying to buy this to surprise our son for Christmas and we don't want to surprise him with something that won't fit! Can I ask how you know?

thanks so much!

No need to worry. All the 3rd gen Explorers have double-din sized openings. All of the in-dash non-flip navigation units on the market are double-din. If you want further reassurance, go to www.crutchfield.com . They have a vehicle fit feature as well.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still baffled why the Pioneer site says it's not compatible but now I have a lot more saying it does work than that it doesn't! Merry Christmas!

I'm surprised Crutchfield said it would fit! But it will fit.

Consider getting your son the F90BT instead of the 700. There is nothing wrong with the 700 model, but the 90 comes with an extra year's warranty and a few other nice features. This whole FT series has been a disaster for Pioneer. But they have finally got it worked out for the most part and with a little cooperation from iGo, it will be the best unit on the market. There are so many fantastic features being added and modified by hackers it's unbelievable. Pioneer left the door wide open for these and it's amazing what is being done. For example, red light camera and speed cameras warnings can be downloaded and added. Just tons of stuff. I think your son will be very happy with this. www.avic411.com and surf the F series forums.

ok ive read the posts but am still worried. i have an '04 explorer sport trac and wanna put in a pioneer AVIC-F700BT. do i have to do any kinda of custom work to get it in right and make it look good? im not much when it comes to this so i will have it professionally installed. i just wanna make sure it looks natural and not a hack job. nothing i find on the net says it will fit.
