I got $790-800 to play with. I just got a pioneer head unit for around $170 including the installation fee of free. This will be installed tomorrow. So I still have $630 give or take a little. I want to also have replaced the door speakers and put in 2 12s with a good amp to power it. I want to save the 12's and amp for a later date when I have more money to throw around. My question is can I get 4 new speakers to replace the stock ones and have them installed inside of $630....?Thanks

Save yourself the money and do the speaker install yourself. Its very easy. As for speakers, 5x8/6x9 are the stock speaker sizes (at least they are on a '98). You didn't mention what size or type of speaker you were looking for. I have Pioneer TS-D690 6x9 in all four locations and I have no complaints. Those four are powered with an Alpine MRD-F450 amp. The F450 is a 5 channel amp. I was using all 5 channels until recently when a upgraded the sub to a JL 10w3v2 and purchased an Alpine MRD-M501 to power it.

you are correct sir, that exactly what I meant to say :smoke:

Well I was thinking of maybe pioneer for the speakers....i didn't know about the size of the stockers in a 2000, I was hoping to get 2 12s and one amp powerful enough for the speakers and subs...

I had the Alpine MRD-F450 (50x4/200x1) driving everything. It sounded pretty damn good. I was using a JL stealthbox with a 10w1 in it. You will be able to find a 5 channel to power everything, but its going to be expensive. I bought the Alpine for $300 online, but you will need a more powerful 5th channel to drive the 2 12's. Your most likely senario, you will end up having to buy 2 amps, 1 to drive the speakers and the other to drive the 2 subs.

Your other alternative would be to buy either a 2 channel or mono amp just for the subs and run the speakers off the head unit for now. You can always amp the speakers later on.

Well I went in Best Buy today after visiting the Ford dealership. Turns out my truck didn't have keyless entry or an alarm from the factory. So I get my 50wx4 HU and my new toy, a Viper 350HV alarm system. Both will be installed this coming thursday....I can't wait.

which head unit did you get???

I got the DEH-4700MP
Can't wait to see it installed
