Country music is evil!! My mom got another country cd yesterday (yuck) and the cd changer mysteriusly quit working and gave us the "CD E1" error, which is supposed to mean a mechanical error. Last time we got this we took apart the changer and there was a coin wedged down in there. We took it apart this time, and the two bars that are together that roll and take the cd into the laser are spinning, but no cd is going into them, so something isnt catching and popping a cd into the bars. Instead of paying Ford to replace or repair one, I'd rather just get a whole new one. I was looking for suggestions. I gotta pay for this screw up if I want it fixed, so I dont want something super expensive. I want to get the chepaest changer I can get that is quality. I know to get that I'll be looking at around $200, give or take some. I might as well go with a 10 disk if I'm getting a new one. I dont really want to buy a used one, I want a warranty for this one :D I can get an Aiwa 10 disc for around $180. Problem is, I dont know if it would be compatible with the stock system, dont really even know if I can even run a 10 disc with a stock system. Any suggestions are really appreciated, I dont know what to do. Thank you,

Grant

I may have something for you

I've got me Sony ten disk from my old truck (now I've got an Eclipse 8 in my console). If you purchase a CD changer dedicated sony deck, they will hook up fine. But it will only work with Sony. I used it for three and one half years (three year warranty) without ever having a problem. Yours cheap if you want it. Still in original box, and even hav the receipt.

Thanks Karl for the offer, but I really cant take them. I dont want a new headunit right now, learning to drive I like the big, easy to read controls the Ford HU's have. If I got a new one, it would be from a newer Explorer. But thanks nevertheless. :)

95ExplorerLtd, I've got the stock 6-disc changer out of my 99 XLT. Its in mint condition, I removed it the day I bought my X since I already had much better system to install. I'll sell it for $100 and shipping. You can take a look at it here CD-changer pics

I deal with these changers all the damn time, I got 2 brand new in box stock changers never used, $150 +shipping each, I work with dealers so if anything should happen to it I can get it fixed or replaced. and the answer to ur ? is, no u cant use a 10 disc changer on a stock ford radio it can only handle 6, either a factory ford unit or an audiovox 6cd. let me know if ur interested.
