Plasti dip the rims bright green and just go ahead and sharpie the paint black, it will take about 12-15 markers but the result is great and much cheaper than a traditional paint job.

But in all seriousness, you'll be doing a full strip/prime/respray?
I've always liked just plain metallic black with a nice polish, i've thought about it with my car but not sure how great it would look with the grey panels.
Mine is white and looks alright with the grey, but white for you would be somewhat of a downgrade.

I'm plasti dipping it I plasti dipped it white before and wasn't a big fan. I'm thing of a zombie midnight flip. Google zombie midnight flip plasti dip its the one on the Audi and blacking out all the panels and rims

For those that call their Explorers trucks. My favorite color on the Fords are the metallic copper colors of the early 2000s. Did they call one Fire mist? It goes well with the grey trim package. Makes that F250 look incredibly large.

Zombie midnight flip looks pretty nice, especially with blacked out trim.
How do you do the trim, plastdip as well? I'm growing tired of the grey.

I think either plasti dip or vinyl wrap

I only really like black, navy blue, charcoal, and gray as colors for an automobile. I could be persuaded of silver in some cases.

I guess I'm far too boring to add much of anything to this discussion. :dunno:

Go Google midnight zombie flip plasti dip

Any progress/update on your project?
I'm thinking about plasti-dipping all my trim/bumpers but can't decide if it would be overkill.
I have a white 02' XLS so both the front and rear bumper have quite a bit of plastic that would need covering.
I'm also thinking of doing the rims black, not sure if that would be double-overkill

Have the same X as you and in the same boat as far as the bumpers go. I am doing something with them with either plastidip or covering with bed liner. My X is white and would be going with black on the bumpers and flares. Just have not decided which route I'm going to go as of yet.

I have a hard time picturing what the end result would look like since it's such a big part being coated.
Here's a link to someone who plastdipped the wheels and used Krylon Fusion on the bumpers/flares, silver car but close enough for an example. It looks pretty good but Krylon IS permanent.

I think i'm going to use plastdip on the bumper before anything permanent incase I don't like it.
New shocks/struts, brakes/rotors, and a few suspension components will be arriving next week so i'll probably tackle at least the rims while the wheels are off.
Also having a hard time deciding on what to do with the calipers, I kind of want to go red :P But also feel that may be a bit goofy on the exp. At any rate it isn't looking too pretty now, and i'll at least go over it with some black rust-oleum.
I've seen a few newer white Jeeps with black rim/red caliper that look really nice, but they are also a bit sportier looking SUV.
Anywhoo if you're interested in the end result I'd be more than happy to take a few pictures as I progress, like I said won't be til next week.
Also need to figure out how to get the roof rack bars and nerf/stepping bars back to black. A bit of rust on the stepping bars, and the paint is peeling in some spots showing the aluminum(?) on the roof rack
