Need a quick answer on price for repair

Is it really worth $212 for the dealer to install a new set of plug wires? or is it something I should do myself? Its a 98 xlt v6 and its like 20 degrees outside here.

just wires or plugs and wires? Does that $200 include the plugs and wires? I've done them in my explorer and my dads f-150 (97), it is not too pleasant, but its still more pleasant then paying someone to do it. However, working on your car when its cold is never fun especially when doing lots with your hands. Every time you hit something or pinch something it feels ten times worse.

Thats the cost for the plug wires themselves and the labor to install them. I then call another dealer and they quote $152. Do I now call the first dealer and try to get them to price match?

Price seems high, but they are a ***** to get to. Why are you replacing them? Unless yours are bad, you will never be able to tell that you replaced them. I have 83K on my '97 and mine are fine.

They said that the first one was arcing and causing my stumbling/hesitation problem and that they couldn't just replace the one wire, nor could they do any further diagnostics till it was fixed.

I took my ex to a local shop when I wanted the plugs and wires changed. Labor was $60. I paid $25 for Autozone lifetime wires and about $10 for 6 Bosch Platinum plugs.

See to me that sounds right, $85 for wires and labor. But now if I take to another place I still have to pay the $80 for diagnostic charge so I guess I will just call them and tell them what the other ford place quoted and cut my losses if they do it.
