94 a4ld 150,000 miles in my 91 4.0 ranger stx 4x4. Had a problem about a month ago that put it in reverse or low 1 felt as if the brakes were on pulled valve body,cleaned it,put it back in and that problem went away then noticed that when in park truck wanted to take off,think something was wrong in the manual valve. Maybe?? Wondering could my no fourth be connected to this issue?
Another problem when I put that valve body back in I got the neg wire for fourth solenoid was in between the case and the pan shorted it out. Burned the positive wire in two pieces.no fourth now,had fourth before this happened. Now iv went thru and replaced the solenoid,it clicks,ohms out around 30,replaced the wiring harness in the case,different valve body with all of the sonnax updates and transgo kit. Hooked up a light to fourth wires and it lite up so the ecm is telling it to shift. Lock up is still working around 45 mph. Question is maybe the band broke? Maybe the servo went bad?? Still no fourth
