so, recently i found out that im leaking coolant from the manifold gasket, so i figured, with the ridiculous gas prices now, i wanna get something affordable and something that will help me in the long run and that will improve my gas mileage, like an intake or exhaust. and since im gonna be replacing the gaskets, i might as well add something i've been wanting to do while everythings apart right?
So i was under my hood today looking to see if an intake was possible, I'm not a mechanic but I've had my share of working on cars, but on my 93, the stock airbox has 2 cables, i dont know what they are yet, coming out of the end part of the box, closest to the back firewall, i don't know where they go, but if i was to think about the intake option, I've read on other forums that it can be done if i get an aluminum adapter to fit the cone, but i dont understand how it'd work if i put the adapter and cone on, where would those cables go?
So if someone help me out and gimme some tips on what I'm lookin at here... please do lol

possibly some web links?

thanks, jesse :salute:

is anyone even reading this? lol

this is awesome, i posted this like, a week ago lol can anyone help me?!!

Probably a Sensor. Try searching for CAI, or cold air intake. The search function can be your friend. BTW, I'm not exactly sure how any posts are made a day, but this site gets alot of traffic. You're thread may have simply been knocked down (in order) quickly. Try the search button. Many people have made cold air intakes out of PVC and havn't had too many problems. Good luck.

i was lookin through some threads, i had questions about the 2 lines coming from the stock airbox on my 93X, i read mostly every page, and now understand that they are vacuum lines and what they do, but the argument about which is the better way to do an intake system is still up in the air and whether or not it improves performance or not with everyone's different opinions lol, so i said screw it, and i went to autozone today and i bought the Spectre cone filter adapter, and thinking about getting a K&N filter, but they had the Spectre filters there for like 30 bucks, and im not doin so good on money right now, but i wanna be POSITIVE that i'll get my money's worth with improving my gas mileage and acceleration with doing the intake system (not a full system, no performance piping, just the adapter and a cone filter) now i know it's not gonna greatly increase HP but, im goin more for gas mileage(cuz we all know how our ex's are on gas), and after reading the threads, i really dont know which is good and which is useless lol so if anyone can help me out and gimme advice on what i should do and parts to get that'd be awesome...

...I will try and help but this sometimes is as controversial subject as there is...Yes, you will get more horse power and better milage, as long as you keep your foot out of the gas..You additionaly could get more H.P. and milage with a new exhaust combined with the new intake...

...If you search "Cold Air Intake" or "CAI", you will find several answers from $20 air filters with $2 adapters, to the more known, KKM, K&N, and a few other ones...Here is a link to the KKM CAI...;)

...As for the vacuum lines, it sounds as if you are familiar now with them and all you have to do is plug the one coming from the motor..Here is a pic of mine and if you look you will see a screw acting as a plug for the vacuum line...I hope this helps...:D

it helped some, like the setup you have, is basically what i want, and the price for that setup is reasonable lol, and it's just in general easier. but did it help with performance wise with your truck? did u notice any change? better gas mileage?

and the other questions running through my mind was will this screw up the maf in any way? and does the computer need to reset and all that?

...I actually bought my KKM used from a member on here, for about 1/3 the cost of new...It did help with performance and a little bit on gas milage but that is only my opinion...

..Whenever you install a performance mod, it can be a double edged sword...It seems like whenever you get better throttle response, you use it more often...This will lead to a lead foot and your milage will go down...:burnout:

...But, you can also get better milage for free, if you search "hyper milage" on here..;)

haha no i know with the lead foot trust me dude, but the 2nd thing i want it for is, how does it sound? mean?:D

...I thought your thread was called, "need advice/options for saving some fuel "?

...LOL, only when you open her up will you get to truly hear her wump...:D...Add a Flowmaster40 and I think that is the sound you are looking for...Mine sounds a little different with my Borla Headers, but definately not obnoxious....

...WARNING:
...Adding the above items can lead to a real heavy foot and definately lower your gas milage...:p:

hahahahaha im saving my lead foot for my F350 diesel ;)

but yeah i've looked at the 40 series, and actually heard some, they sound sick

how are the magnaflows? they sound close?

...If You search "Exhaust" you will find several sound clips in various threads...From what I've seen, Flowmaster seems to be the choice but a lot of people do use the others too..there is also a hybrid muffler of the 2 manufacturer's...:dunno:

...It is all a personal choice, and the best help I could suggest to you, is to write down your long term vision of your vehicle, then search on here as much as you can...The info that is stored here is so much better than just getting a couple peoples opinions...Good Luck with your project...:D
