This is what I plan to do. Get an extra pan from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-A4LD-4...Parts_Accessories&hash=item2557a635e7&vxp=mtr I have a 93 X 2 W/D. I plan to take to shop and have a fitting welded in ahead of time. That way I can do a quick switch and not have the truck down long.

So I need a precise location were to drill and have the weld shop weld the fitting in so it will be in a safe place. Also is there a particular sending unit and gage someone can recommend. I want to go with an electronic not mechanical.

If there’s anyone out there that has an extra pan or I could send them this one and would be able to do the welding for the sending unit I would like to hear frm you.

Thanks
Bruce

I have had good luck just putting it in the bottom of the pan where there is a circular depression.

It does not have to be welded in, if you are on a budget. On mine I simply drilled the hole and inserted the sensor through the hole with a retaining nut on the backside, then secured the nut with JB-Stik to seal it up and keep the nut from spinning. I added RTV around the threads as well. Have never had a problem. On my other Explorer's pan I used a quick drain valve with the same method and it has worked great.

Thanks for the reply. I would worry just a little with it rite on the bottom. The possibility of it getting scraped or hit with just a little off roading. Although I don't do much off roading but just in case.

I read that others have put it on the side of the pan but location is pretty critical. I will have to look up some of those threads and PM those guys.

Thanks
Bruce
