I just got an '03 Explorer EB with a V8 not too long ago and I am do for an oil change. I want to use one of the top motor oils out there. From my searches on here it appears that Mobile 1 full synthetic 5w30 is a popular choice. I live in NW PA where it can get 90+ in the summer and during the winter it will be down into the teens. Do you guys see a problem with using this type of oil?

BTW, the motor has 40,000 miles on it.

later,

Chris

Mobil 1 is a good choice as well as Amsoil.

Good luck ........

if your going with the mobil1 use its premium filter also.

Thats what I use in my 03 V6.

Castrol Syntec is good, Mobil, or Amsoil depening on your needs.
I switched from Mobil to Castrol just because of the price break.....both work VERY well

I used to work in an engine shop, and after 90k miles of a stock engine run on only Mobile 1, we opened her up to start modding. Since that day, I've been totally convinced on only Mobile 1. The engine looked practically new on the inside.

I've heard similar stories like above

I saw Motorcraft synthetic blend oil at Walmart for about the same price as regular oil. Anyone using it?
