Sorry.. the pics don't do too much justice to the actual look...

So here is what I did:

I removed all the carpet and located to see if there were holes where to screw the seats to without any more drilling (yes... I already had done some drilling on the floor)... thankfully, the truck has a bunch of unused holes that are patched with some metallic tape and some black gum-like guck.

The 1st row bolted almost directly to the floor... there was one of the screws on each seat that did not match a hole.... so I just left it like that.

Out of all the cables in the wiring harness of the seat, I located the 2 thickest one the black went to a ground and the other color to the + of the battery with a fuse in between.

The 2nd row seats came with a "floor bracket/plate"... the 3rd gens (at least on mine, the 2nd row screws directly to the floor)... anyway... the bench is 40/60 split, so I made sure that both sections had at least 4 points where to screw then to the floor....

For the hinge that goes into the floor where the rear of the seats clamp to to allow access to the 3rd row... there some dips/deeps/recesses that were under the carpet, but since they did not match the hinges of the new seats, I hammered in the floor where they were supposed to go (not pretty, but effective - specially since no one will lift the carpet to see what's there - unless I decide to sell, etc.).

The belt buckles of the 2nd row, I wen t to my dad's I used power grinder to make the original ones as thin as the ones for the new seats... the buckles for the 2nd row for the 4th gen x are not as wide as on the 3rd gen... the front buckles were not a problem.

The 3rd row, I just remove the utility bins that were in the back (just unbolt a few bolts and pull them out)... the new seats fit right in... and actually, was the one that I had to fight the least with to get in ;-)

I'm not planning to install seats belts on the 3rd row just yet... I need a break!

So to summarize and some other pointers:

-4th gen seats will fit 3rd gen (with a little work).

-4th gen seats are a little bit harder than 3rd gen seats (at least mine... may be there are too new and not broken in enough, or mine were too old and soft/worn out)... but they are still very comfortable (I'm fixing to drive from Jackson, MS to Orlando, FL next week... that will be the real test... I'll keep you posted).

- The headrests of 4th gens are larger than 3rd gen's so they block rear visibility a little bit.

- they do look nice and the smell of leather when you get in the truck is nice (I like).

Have fun with your projects.

Could you please take some more pictures of yoru setup? I am really interested in it.

Thanks!

So, any update on how you like you seats and possibly how your wiring is coming? I am assuming that your seats are heated, have you hooked them up to a switch yet/

That's cool that you made it work! I really like the style of those seats.

In my '04 XLS, I bought a second set of front seats at a junkyard. The driver side was power, and the passenger side had the lumbar adjustment, so I ended up using these for the front and moving my fronts to the back. I had aleady had my old seats recovered with two-tone leather (black and tan), so I had the new pair covered to match. I designed some new brackets out of steel plates, and had a buddy weld them to the seats and drill the holes. In doing this, I removed the plastic storage bin that normally sits behind the second row, and actually moved these new seats back about 8-10 inches from where the bench was. The end result is four full-sized buckets in my truck, with fronts and rears that can all recline and move forward and back. When all 4 seats are scooted all the way back, you can sit in the rear seats and have TONS of legroom. You can also recline, and pretty much stretch out as long as you want. I'm 6'5", and I have all the legroom I could possibly want. I have built (out of wood) two different center consoles for the rear already, but am currently in the process of building a 3rd one. I also have headrest monitors, two PS2s, and headphones, so each rear passenger can listen to their own CD, watch their own DVD, or play their own game independently, or they can both tap into the same source, or they can tap into whichever source I have going up front. Now, people who ride with me actually call shotgun on the rear seats instead of the front.

The seats are ok... they definitely add a luxury touch to the truck... they provide a bit more support than the old ones... my family and I drove from Jackson, MS to Orlando, FL... and they were ok.... (not as comfy as my wife's avalon)...

The wiring is still they same... I really ran out of time to play with it... I need to get a diagram or something like that.... I don't care too much for the heating part (at least yet)... it is hot as heck here in MS.... may be for winter... ah.. still have time

HA, HA... I can image that every one now wants to enjoy the "mobile teathre (sp?)" that your truck must be...

That was a great idea.... I didn't think about moving the old buckets to the back.... I guess that's have to wait... my baby rides in the middle seat of the second row....

any pics of your setup????

I am so bad about taking and posting pics. I will get around to it eventually.

Thanks for the reply.

I am thinking about picking up a pair of these. I currently have leather right now, but these are by far the worst seats I have ever sat in (my current 2002 seats).

The only thing I am worried about is the power, but from what you have said its not much work getting the power to the actual tracks. One quick question, did you Ex already have third row seats?

those seats look bad ass !!!!!

the driver's side is electric and with airbag.... I'm scratching my head about how to install/wire that

Wire it to a Big Red Button. When someone tries to carjack you, lean right, press button

LOL!

HAHA lol!!! that's an idea... an "eject" button.... I could trick it out and put it in the dash with a big lavel that says "turbo engage".... when some one presses it expecting to go faster... they get EJECTED!

My local junk yard has a nice set of black leathers that I am about to pull the trigger on. I'm still a little sketchy about the wiring for the power seat but think that I will get them anyways.

Go for it.... as long as the leather is good... all I did for the wiring is black to ground and red to fuse to + battery... no airbag yet.

suerte!

Thinking about 4th gen aviator seats for my 04 eddie.
