Is there any differance between a 1992 explorer sport 4x4 trans and a 1993 explorer xlt 4 door 4x4 trans both automatic. Girl drove my truck to work and when she got home it was blowing smoke out the trans breathers and i can here the plates slipping. I have a 1993 donor truck

I'm pretty sure it's the same trans, the only difference would be the driveshaft length.

Yes, they are the same trans.

Well a death in the family post poned the swap but i got the old one out tonite for everyone who has asked yes it can come out without taking the y pipe off. But be warned ur your not physically built in your arms and back it is not possible. I am 6.2. 245 and it took alot to pry and spin it to line up with the y pipe just right to slip over and i doubt it can be done with the assistance of a jack because of the spin it needs to do. You will need to be able to catch the trans and carry it down to safety

Ended up fi finishing it all up sat night got sick of laying u under a truck so when i was ready to pull my donor trucks trans out i hooked it to my 94 sport and rolled it on its side have a video of it was good fun and made the job allllot more comfortable
