I have a 2001 2WD Ford Explorer Sport. Just replaced 3 alternators, 2 batteries and even the voltage regulator. The darn thing still isn't charging. Will charge when jumping it and the minute I disconnect it, voltage drops, battery light stays on and it dies.

I called the dealer they said there aren't any fuses. I'm hearing otherwise. I can't even get it to the shop because it won't hold a charge long enough.

We also just replaced the battery terminals, and no luck.

It looks like the small cable on top of the starter has seen some arc. (Pardon my lack of mechanical terms) But there are no issues with starting it up. Could the starter be causing the issue?

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

did you check the fuse to the alternator?

in the dash fuse box, fuse 15 is 7.5 amp is that fuse good?

open drivers side door, on the side of the dashboard i think is the fuse box, fuse #15 which is 7.5amp is that fuse good?

Test it, lots of fuses go bad and look fine.

There is also a fuse for the alternator under the hood. The fuse block is on the driver side just in front of the master cylinder.

Which fuse under the hood in the box is it? There are only numbers on them.

That I don't remember. It should be listed in the owners manual if you have it.

does your charge warning light come on?? get a meter and measure voltages at the terminals on your alternator and go from there.

I checked the manual but no fuse/relay listed for alternator or battery. (The # 15 fuse wasnt even listed in it.)

No charge light. The battery light stays on. It will start but then the battery wont go higher than the "L". and then it drains and dies.

The fuse under the hood should be a 20amp fuse (blue). Shouldn't be hard to spot if it is blown.

spend the $5-10... walk to radio shack and get a meter.... or pay the "man" (as in dealer) the big bucks to find your problem.
