I have a friend at work who knows nothing about cars and cant afford to take his ride in to get fixed. hes asking me to fix it for him. main problem is I dont drive a Explorer. So I am unsure of what to replace without tearing his door apart.

keep in mind i have to do this in a work parking lot.

His passanger side power window wont roll down. Im trying to decided if its the switch or the motor. on the driver side door I was wanting to know if all 4 switches to all the windows is on one plug in. because if it is. that would tell me that the motor is bad on the window.

any info on this would be great.

thanks for your time.

Wouldn't you want to check and see if there is power at the motor on the passenger side? Pull the skin off, press down on the switch and see if there's power there.

so if both drivers and passengers switches dont work for the passenger side it could be that its not getting power... never had that problem so never thought about it.

so if there is power to the switch will it make some kind of noise. like trying to get the door to move....?

i mean on my car the switch was not working. i tried a new switch and that didnt work. so i replaced the motor on the window and it was fixed. so i figured this would be the same due to the fact i dont know a lot about explores.

Just go step-by-step. Do all the other windows work? Does pass. window work from drivers console? Try popping the pass. window switch up from the armrest and check for voltage at any of the terminals with the key "on". If no voltage to the switch it may be a broken wire in the hinge cable at the door. If voltage present, try running the window. If voltage drops significantly the motor is pulling too much current = bad motor. If voltage does not change and you hear no noise then it could be a bad switch, bad wire from switch to motor, or bad motor. Try swapping the switch with one from another door that does work. If still not working then you have a problem in the door, either motor or wiring.
