it might be your fuel filter. i would find out where it is on your explorer and take it off and see if its clogged. i had the same prob on my 96 explorer.

i got home today and replced the fuel filter and the exact samething happen... it runs idles i give it gas for about 10 seconds and the car completely dies shuts off

Check your MAF & IAC sensor.. Clean them and see if that helps

where are the maf and iac sensors located?

your MAF "mass air flow" sensor is going to be either on your intake tube or right next to your air filter. on mine its next to my air filter. im not sure about your IAC sensor. if you check that and thats not the problem, i would check your fuel injector/ injectors. depending if you have multi port injection. if you have throttle body injection, as far as i know you'll just have one fuel injector. if you have multi port, you should have one injector for each cylinder.
