Ok, my X recently had a check engine light, and it basically just gave me a vague EVAP code that relates to the charcoal canister and/or the valve that puts the fumes to the TB. In any case, i replaced the valve from one on a F150 (same setup, same plug, etc. etc.) and also found that the canisters were actually being held up by the spare at this point from being so rusted out.
Anyways, i made a new bracket for the canisters, cleaned everything up with electrical spray (the stuff I usually use for my MAF's) and put everything back together.
Turn the key.....
turn, turn turn turn turn.... nothing...
try it again
turn turn turn turn turn.... nothing
no fuel from the schrader valve, SO, bad fuel pump, or not getting power due to something being off from my recent valve and canister fiasko?

Is there a way to test if the computer is sending power to the fuel pump?
Yes, i checked that little shutoff switch deal, it's reset the way it should be...
Do I have to take off the whole tank in order to get at the stupid plug to the pump and put a multimeter on it or what?

HELP!!!
Lee... in distress.... It's been a month sitting in my driveway... not moving, sucking up insurance money and not helping me save any gas (compared to my work truck).
Once again, HELP?!

Mine did the same thing last month. I finally got pissed at it not starting and towed it to the shop thinking I was going to have to pay them to replace my in-tank fuel pump. They eventually found that the sensor that tells the pump to work was corroded. (I took the truck swimming a few times and have been replacing parts ever since). They just cleaned up the corroded sensor and it has been starting fine ever since. Made me feel dumb that mine was such an easy fix. Good luck:navajo:

did they say what sensor and where? I need to figure out which one to look for. Even if you have the reciept with a name on it, it would be very helpfull! Thanks

just check if the fuel pump relay (its in the main power distribution box) is operating and that 12v is indeed leaving the relay. If it is then odds are that your "finger efforts" "disturbed" stuff at the back end. Of course, you can also check that voltage made it to the shut off switch and out again.

Which fuse in the relay box is it?
Is the shut off switch before or after the fuse relay?

Thanks again, time for dinner!

Blue-- I don't have the papers with me, but all they told me was that it was a sensor. My guess was that it was somewhere near the fuel tank/pump since that all got submerged causing the corrosion. My other under-body sensors have gone out one by one as well.
