Need help! I'm dumb and cant figure this out!

I put a battery in my 96 that was too tall, closed the hood and now one side sticks up. I cant get the hood back open! I have remote start, and the truck wont start because it thinks the hood is open! any help you can offer is appreciated!

The hood won't open cause it's in the latched position.
You have to push it down, undow the latch with your hand under the front of the hood. and then pull the hood up.

agreed, you need to push down on the hood in the center, then unlatch it... you may have to push pretty hard!

I hope you are not shorting out the + terminal on your hood!!!

you guys rock! but theres another problem...

so the hood popped perfectly, unfortunately on the way to the auto parts store a fierce north dakota wind kicked the hood up. theres no serious damage, but the hoods out of alignment. it just needs lid forward 1/8 inch or so but the back side and the rest of the car rub right now. any thoughts?

just loosen the bolts on the hood side of the hinge. it's just trial and error getting it lined up from here......

yeah you should be able to see where the bolts were originally tightened. As long at it didn't bend the hinges you can use that as a reference. Otherwise As EP stated, it is just trial and error to get it perfect.
