Can anyone provide illustrations, or hints on removing and replacing the ignition switch. Someone tried to steal my Explorer last night, and they broke a screwdriver off in the ignition. I want to replace it, but if I recall Ford has issues with pins inside of these. Just looking for any hints and tech tips.

thanks

Not too tough of a job. Just did mine last week. I bought the cylinder wiht keys at Autozone fro 13.50. remove the steering column shrouds..(two bolts seperates the upper and lower) Once they are out of the way, Turn the key to on anduse a small pinted punch or screw driver..i used a paper clip with no trouble..., from underneath to push in the cylindar pin. The tumbler will come right out....... be sure the new tumbler is also in the on postion and the locking pin is depressed before reinstalling.

hope this helps
