I talked to a place called Silver Star Customs and they said that if I brought it down they would do it. Does anyone know of anyplace els that I could check into. also some pics. of bagged X's would be appreciated.

A BAGGED 1st gen 4x4? And they agreed to do it? I fear they will change their mind after they tear into it. Just thinking of all the work and fabrication that would need to be done makes my mind hurt.

Look for a member called racinjason68, I don't know if he has a 4X4 or not but it is a bagged 1st gen.

bagging a first gen. 4x4 and bagging a 2wd is two different animals. unless you swap to IFS, it will be impossible on the front, because the front diffy will hit the oil pan. the most drop you can get on the front of your truck without doing damage would be 2"-3". now, if you were willing to convert to 2wd, that would make it doable. expensive, but doable none the less.

I talked to a guy at a show I went to and he said somthing about mounting the bags on top of somthing and "maybe" doing it that way. But i dont know what he was talking about. I have also considered maybe trying to trade my 4x4 for a 2X4, if anyone was interested. I would switch out my front end with a 2x4 but my parents wont let me so this is what im stuck with. Thanks for the help.

I think he's confused. On a 2nd gen 4x4, you can mount the bags on top of the control arm on a 4x4. But on a 1st gen 4x4, you can't really do that since there's an axle in there. And even if you could, it doesn't solve your front driveshaft/t-case clearnace issues.

Do you know of any way possible to clear the driveshaft/t-case??? How much clearence do i have to play with? Withought bags i could still crank the TT and block the back...Right???

Well there's really no good way to clear the oil pan or crossmembers. You can't do a TT because 1st gens don't have torsion bars.

I didnt know that 1st gen dont have TT. Well then do you have any suggestions? Anything at all would be of some help.

your explorer has a TTB (Twin Traction Beam) front end. this consists of coilsprings and a front differential. there is no way to bag it, or lower it more than about 2" for that matter, without converting it to some form of 2wd. it is nothing like a 95-newer explorer, which has torsion bars.

So does anyone know of a place that makes coil springs for my year. That away i can do a 2" 3" or 2" 4". Does anyone have pics of what that looks like?

You can't go lower than 2-3 inches with the TTB axle in the front.

So 2" in front and 3" in back. How will that look and ride??? Will it ride rough? How bad will it mess up my alignment? W

So will just a 2" 3" change the way it rides and handles at all or very much? How bad will it mess up my aliagnment? Will it have negative camber? Does anyone have any springs for sale?

It will improve handling, but I've heard the ride is not that great. An alignment will be needed afterward.

Simple fact is that 1st gen 4x4s are not good for lowering.

Well thanks for all of the help. If anyone has or knows someone with lowering coil springs for a 91-94 explorer just let me know. A 1st gen may not be the best to lower but nobody around where i live has one so i will be different. Thats another reason i want to do it.
