Well, I got myself in a bind. I'm doing a SAS at work and I've got a lift and one full bay all tied up in the process. I need to clear it out ASAP!

I THOUGHT I'd be able to at least get the rig to where I could roll it out of the way but the frame rail on the driver side has a "hump" for the steering and this is where the the new coil bucket needs to go. So, I need to know how otheres got around this obstacle.

Thanks...

Modify the coil bucket because you are going to need to remount your steering box there, so you cant modify the frame.

Why didnt you keep the stock coil buckets? I assume its because the ones you are using are from the donor and they are wider?

Remount the steering box?!? I must have talked to a dozen people about this swap (incl. Tdavis) and none ever mentioned moving it. Are you sure on that one?

NO NO NO I mean you are going to have to re-mount or keep the steering box where it is, so the only solution is to modify the coil bucket to fit.......

Right?

The best part about doing the first gen SAS is the stock steering box and coil buckets can be re-used. People opt for the larger coil buckets from the donor because they are wider..........

WHEW! Had me scared for a minute there.

So, just make the new coil bucket work, eh? I wish someone could shoot me a pic of how they did this...

I used the wider Bronco coils, and the little tab on the top fit really nice into the stock Explorer buckets.

But you could also replace the explorer ones with the bronco ones somehow.

The EB buckets are used due to the larger springs and adjustable height. The stock buckets will work, just not as good as far as I've seen. A few members have made them work. We used the stock buckets in my Father-in-law's BII but I don't like how the coil sits in the bucket and how the spring wants to pop out when under flex.

I'm sorry I don't have a pic to show you, but I'll look for a thread were it was done.

next thing to do on my list is a SAS thanks for the technical help
