My 99 ex will not enter into the programing mode. I tryed the 8 times thing and nothing happened. Ford wants 90 bucks to look at it. I can put a regular alarm on for that. Any ideas? Is ther a fuse maybe?

Welcome Aboard!:D

Found this in another thread. Is this the process you followed?

Programming Transmitter(s):

When the customer has purchased additional transmitters, or has lost a transmitter, the customer MUST bring to the dealer ALL of the transmitters for the vehicle. The dealer must then reprogram ALL of the transmitters at the same time. The receiver assembly module erases all previous transmitters from memory, when the transmitters are programmed or reprogrammed. The receiver assembly module can store up to four transmitters in memory.

To program (or reprogram) transmitter(s) into the remote/keyless entry module, perform the following steps.

1. Make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered. Refer to «Section 13-11».

2. Turn the ignition key from OFF to RUN five times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN.

If the RAP system has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.

3. Press any button on a transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each transmitter has been programmed. If the vehicle has memory seats, look on the back of the transmitters and make sure that transmitter No. 1 is programed first, and that transmitter No. 2 is programmed second.

If the door locks do not respond for any transmitter, wait a few seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, go to «Pinpoint Test A» .

4. Turn ignition OFF (or wait up to five minutes after Step 2) to exit program mode. If a new set of transmitters have been programmed (or reprogrammed), the remote control alarm and door lock system will lock and unlock all doors one last time to confirm.

pay particular attention to this quote:

If the door locks do not respond for any transmitter, wait a few seconds and press the button again.

Yeah but that for a pre 97, 98 and up ford are 8 times insted of 5. But trust me i tried 5,6,7,8,9 and so on dosn't want to work. I read someting some where about jump pins in the rear?

I guess we should maybe start from scratch. What exactly is the problem? And what are you looking to do? Are you just trying to put in a "personal" code?

There is a thread about going into that module and changing the jumpers. You may to try a search for it.

It should be 8 times for '98 and newer Explorers. 5 times for '93-'97 Explorers. Try it again. It should be 8 times. If it still doesn't respond, go to the rear left quarter panel, there's a little door where you open in order to get your jack. Once you opened the door, look inside toward the front of the truck. Do you see a module?? If not, then your truck doesn't have keyless entry system installed in your truck. If so, check the fuses. Then to last resort, ask the dealer but I recommand going to another dealer because they're charging way too much.

ok

i did all that.
1. yes the module is back there.
2. no the 8 times thing does not work.
3. if there is a fuse which one? (manual does not list
rke in fuses)
4. I'm tryin progam the remote.
5. yes the remote works came from dads 01 250
6. ex wiil not enter into program mode.
7. this is driving me insane.
8. .......why did i type 8? ...........
9.

BUMP!

Are all of your doors shut when you do it?? That might be screwing it up

yes

yes all the doors are shut & all the lights are off. I keep goin back to the fuse thing in my head

Well since we're kinda on the subject. Has anyone tried or know if its possible to program an aftermarket remote into the factory keyless entry.

I know its an odd question, but I've got an avital transmitter just sitting here, and I was curious.

Turn the key from Off to Run 5 times...? Isn't that going to cause your fuel pump to be thinking "Wtf is he doing?" I thought your fuel pump primed everytime you clicked on, hence the little hissing sound you hear?

No, that is the procedure straight from the Ford Repair CD & certain model year Owner's Manuals. You turn the key on and off before the pump has a chance to cycle.

Find a nice dealer, the service advisor should be able to program the remotes for ya, the dealershit I worked for was a real crappy one, and we did it for free.

The process described up at the top is correct, perhaps your explorer doesn't have keyless entry...
If it does, it should be entering the program mode, I've never had trouble with one before.
