NEED HELP PLEASE!!

4 days ago my oil pressure gauge started going crazy. When I first started my explorer in the morning, the oil pressure gauge started bouncing from low to normal and the check gauge light was flashing. There was also a fairly loud clatter sound. After it warmed up, the clatter and the gauge went back to normal. The same thing happened every morning since, but only in the morning. But today, after about amile of driving, my truck just died on the highway. It started again, and drove about 100yards until it died again. Now it won't start at all. Anybody have any ideas?

Did you check the oil level when this started?? If there is oil, then I would have to say you crapped a oil pump! I guess I gotta ask, when it started, why did ya keep driving it?? Sounds to me like the engine seized on ya now.

It does sound like you may have siezed it, have you tried to turn the crank manually yet?

Take it to a mechanic. DOn't ruin it anymore than it is, If you're lucky enouph to get it up and running don't drive it befor you get it to a shop.

If the engine turns over but will not start it may be a rod bearing. Other than that if you can not turn the engine at all (as stated try manualy) then it be seized. Sorry man , been there before.

Just like a few of the others said why did you run it sounding like that. Did you buy this X used. If so and you have no idea how it was maintained then there are a few things you can do. Some times the screen on the oil pumps and get gummed up with sludge and junk and it will cause a oil starvation problem. If you are quick you can fix all of that. But first find out if you can move that crank over manually.

I've tried a few things but no luck yet. The engine isnt seized, but it seems like its being restricted or held back by something just before it's about to start. I havent pulled the oil pump yet, is there anything else that I could try.

Rod Bearing? You will need to investigate further but you may have wrecked one or more rod bearings.

Could your flywheel be shot? I'm not sure, but I think if it blows you would have the trouble you descibe.
