I used to be on this board as "Orkrist" a few years ago, but have changed email addresses and so on so I just re-registered.
Anyway, I need some help. After struggling over trading in the '92 and getting nothing in exchange for a car note I don't want for something silly, like a WRX STI, I don't need or fixing it up, I chose to fix everything wrong with it.
So, here goes: I need new tires (did it today), new ball joints (needed them for three years, doing it in two weeks) and a new radius control arm (same time as the joints). I also needed a new front driver seat and new door panels, mostly on the driver side.
I went to a junk yard today and got a '91 seat thinking they were probably the same, and they looked pretty much the same. As I am sure many of you know, the mounting holes are not in the same place. My first question is whether or not I can mount the '91 seat on the '92 rails, and then install the seat on the '92 "frame". Anyone know before I statr at it? If that fails, I will try to disassemble them and find a way to meld them and repair the problem-the back falling backward.
My second question-Can I buy door panels for this thing from a source anyone knows about? The yards never seem to have them or they are the wrong year.
142,000 miles and its never not started-but I had the tranny rebuilt at 72K.
