Changing the fuel pump in a few, and wondering how to go about relieving the fuel pressure. I have a 99' Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0 SOHC.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks :)

You can disconnect the inertia switch, then run the engine (if yours runs) til it dies. Also pressure can be relieved at the fuel injection rail test port using the test gauge, or I have heard of wearing people wearing safety googles and just letting the pressure out of the port with a small screwdriver.

Both of which Dr mentioned will work. i used the screwdriver methor, though please use proper safety precautions.

Thank you all for your info! I ended up letting it run while I pulled the fuel pump fuse out and let it slowly die. Thanks!
