So after some reading on here I decided to upgrade the stock 8" subwoofer in my 2004 Explorer to a JL 8w0 as recommended by some others. I am planning to use the factory amplifier for now. The removal process was a little more tedious than expected (seat belt bolt was a biotch), but I finally got the old sub out from the vehicle.
The first thing I noticed was that the screw hole locations do not line up, so I will have to drill holes directly into the plastic of the speaker box to install the new sub. Not a big deal.
However - the old subwoofer has 2 inputs on it, with separate wires connected to each side of the sub. On the back it says 60w+60w. However my new subwoofer only has a single mono input on it.
What should I do in this case? Can I wire both positives to a single input on the subwoofer? Or do I just have to run in Mono and lose information from the channel that's not connected?
Any help is appreciated as my truck is currently in pieces. Thanks,
