got the front on fine after I figured out that the instructions included by Ground Force was missing a step (unlink the sway bar from the lca). anyway, now I'm having problems w/ the rear. I unlinked the sway bar, unbolted the top and bottom of the strut, but I still can't get enough clearance to remove the strut/spring assembly!!!!

anybody else have this problem. please help me! my wife's a little pissed that she has a muscle car looking explorer now. I got a quote from pepboys adn they want several hundred dollards to do just the rear.

FYI: for anyone doing springs in the future, pep boys charges $20 to swap each spring on the strut assembly if you carry it in.

Deleted your thread in Lowered Suspensions. Please do not double post. You will probably get more post here.

anyone have any ideas?!?!

here's before and after photos ... obviously w/ just front springs since im here asking for help on removing the rear! I measured a 2" drop and an additional -1* of camber. for some reason my wife, thought I said it would only be a 1" drop.

anybody have any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Did I miss something?

I know that this is a 2 month old thread but am just curious on how things went. Was it a big hassle? How does the wife like the ride since it is lower than she thought? I'm trying to convince my wife that it shouldn't be TOO harsh a ride. Time will tell. Thanks.

Another critical step missing in the GF instructions ... I also had to remove the bolt that connected the spindle to the lower control arm. the spindle was hanging by the upper control arm and still connected to the axles. this allowed the lower control arm to drop even more so that the strut/spring assembly could fall out.

the rear springs initially only lowered the rear 1" but it settled to 2". the negative camber it added was enough to cause visual damage to the tires w/in 2 weeks so I got ingalls camber adjusters at pep boys to correct it. no problems now. the height is great for getting in and out w/out feeling like your climing into a truck. there's still plenty of ground clearance to drive over stuff. the ride is a little harsher than stock but it's a small price to pay for the handling gains.

That drop looks great!

I'm getting inner wear on my rears (large wheels, no drop yet...)

What is the ingalls part number for the rear camber adjusters (and cost, if you remember)...

Thanks!

Front = 29600 @ $40.97ea
Rear = 29700 @ $15.54ea

prices are for special order at pep boys. one kit required per wheel. total for all 4 came to $122.34 after taxes. The front took 30-45 per side. the rear only took 10-15 minutes.

I measured camber before and after the drop so I knew I needed a full 1* of adjustment to get back w/in range. prosuspension kits only add .75*.
