97 XLT
Hi everybody!!!

I bought my 97 XLT 2 days ago from a dealrship in Indiana. I regreted so much I didn't listened to my wife when she said, "I don't have good feelings about this." Well, the damage is done there is no need to cry about it, right.

Yes, the problem. When I drove it in I the dealership, I didn't notice anything major. However, after we got back to Chicago it started doing that clicking sound whenever i stopped for red light . It's coming from the AC. It stopes and startes turning again. Besides that, when I put it in 4X4 and I try to turn the steering wheel it jumps the front and also it doesn't reverse . I showed the car to a mechanic and he said "I need to change the U Joints and it will cost me about $500 including labor, and it will last only about a year." I was very disappointed. I am thinking about selling it right away unless i get some good advice about what to do. I thought this forum would be full of genious people who know how to deal with this sort of problems. I hope someone can come up with a good idea because I already like how it feels to be a Explorer driver. I hate to sell it. Please help

Don't you hate it when that happens, welcome to the site! Not sure about the u-joints but I'm sure someone that does will chime in ;) Gd Lck

what happened realy made me feel bad because you put all that money into something that you think will last a bit but it doesn't even last for four hours after the purchase. However, I like to forget about past and move on, and take care of the problem A.S.A.P.

Thanks for welcoming.

Did the dealership give you any kind of warranty, have you talked with them? Man I would be bitc@ing a fit if this happened two days after I drove it off the lot!

There has to some sort of buyers remorse law or something the dealer will do for you...

500 bucks for universals god I hope those are made of solid gold at that price!!!!. If you put it in 4x4 while on cement and try to make a turn the steering will jerk and the front end will make noise because your not suppose to do that. Your wrench man is robbing you on the joints as for no reverse that may be an issue. Check for 72 hour return option most states have them.GOOD LUCK and welcome to the site.

Thanks everyone for their reply on the topic. I did talked to the dealer the next day, however you know how they are. They are all used car salesman, if you know what I mean. I am sure there are exception too but I haven't seen one just yet. For the 4X4 problem i tried on the asphalt and it was a rainy day. I also talked to my friend who knows about fords and he agrees that it's U joints. Anyway it seems like there is no turning back, I got to deal with it. I 'll get it fixed when I have the money for it.

Thanks everyone again. I'd still appriciate any kind of suggestions.
