The lovely local tire shop that mounted my rims and tires decided to cross-thread one of my lug nut studs and it broke off. What's the secret to replacing these? Remove e-brake drum parts or pull the axel shaft?

You should be able to just take the wheel and rotor off and just beat the broken one through. The studs are pressed in. You can go buy a replacement down at a local parts place. They make installers for the studs...but you just need something (i.e. lug nut without a cap on it) to pull the stud into the hub/face of the axle!

Thanks, I didn't know they made a tool to do it. I bought a new stud and as I was pulling it in with a nut I over tightened and it broke again. It was probably machined like crap and I just couldn't get it to bottom out. I forced it and it broke. I should have stopped and ran with it, it was a small gap. It was a cheap Advance part. I am going to check on a Ford stud and maybe use one of those.

stack washers maybe 1/2" thick to make it easier to bottom out, and puts less wear on the stud.
