Swollen Lug Nut Replacement

Anyone happen to know the part number for the ones that fit the base model wheels as they are different from the others?
This is what shows up for the non-alloy wheel for your year and model. DG1Z-1012-A , replaces 6L2Z-1012-AA

Wonder if this occurs on the PIU lugs which are different (shouldered, etc.)?

Swollen Nuts?
For God's sake Man,skip the dealership, see a Doctor!

So sad, I have been following this forum for years, and this is the first I contribute?
Thank you all for the great help, and information provided.

Bro, which bumper bar are you using?

it’s because the mechanics use standard sockets instead of metric one and are loose on lug nuts. That makes them swell the nut covering sleeve. If it’s swollen, aftermarket lug nuts are available from Dorman that’s solid without the chrome sleeves.

I use black Gorilla on all my Ford vehicles. Look good hold their finish torque easily. Ford lug nuts swelled back when I worked for them ~2003

Pretty common problem. I just had ot replace the lug nuts on my son's Escape. Dealer did it, but we went after market and 1 piece units.

Same thing happened to my daughter's Focus. Had to use a hammer to get the lug wrench on each nut.

I'm not sure I can stop laughing long enough to contribute anything positive. Oh man...

Man, that sounds painful!

Just seeing what others have replaced their lug nuts with. Is there anything available that will not swell?

I have a base model 2013 4WD

On both our 1997 XLT and our 2015 Sport, I replaced the factory ones with chrome manufactured by McGard, using both their standard and locking type of lug nuts. I've tried other brands claiming to be "rustproof" but after a year's service, they are decidedly not. Whatever plating process McGard uses, the lug nuts only require an annual cleaning and their original luster is restored. I had this brand on the '97 for many years and on the '15 for the last two. I live in eastern Washington state, so there's all sorts of chemical compounds used to prep the road surfaces for black ice in the fall, snow in the winter, more ice in the spring, plus the general crud during the other seasons.

All my replacements are the solid dorman. Supposedly lifetime corrosion free. We'll see. Our Infiniti has the junk 2 piece as well. I've had to replace some of them due to swelling.

I just bought 1 piece lug nuts for my 2019 Sport. They were already starting to swell when I did my annual tire swap to winter tires in December. My better half's 2016 Lincoln MKC, when we did the tire swap in December, were impossible to remove. The 19mm socket size would not go over the swollen lug nuts. I ordered these from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/WheelGuard-B...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=S7E99BX5JWCW561GXMWK . Fit is perfect and 20 for $17.00 is a deal if you ask me.

Curious about this disclaimer on the product page:
For AFTER-MARKET Wheel ONLY. WILL NOT FIT Factory OEM aluminum wheels from Toyota/Lexus/Scion/Honda/Acura.
Have you successfully installed these on your factory Explorer wheels with no issues?

Yes. They are on her MKC now and will be on my Explorer come spring tire change. Zero issues.

Reviving this thread to ask straight-up...
I've just bought a 2013 Ford PIU with steel wheels, the nice-looking metal center caps, so I need the nuts with the retaining ring - anybody have a recommendation for a closed, 1-piece lug nut that's the right size (1/2" x 20 Thread Size, 13/16" Hex Size and 1.5" Overall Length if I'm not mistaken)? I found these but I don't believe that they're the right size. Thanks in advance everybody!
