- 2003 ford explorer xlt
hello everyone! I have a broken chain guide and faulty tensioner on my 2003 ford explorer 4.6l sohc. I have the timing cover off and just received my timing chain kit in the mail. I would like to replace everything [gears, chains etc..] however im very uneasy about doing so because I don't want to mess up timing and cause further damage. I don't have the special cam holding tool and I would like to know if there is a way of doing this job without it. the engine is in the suv, heads are on,timing chain is still on as well as all the other timing components. I will not go any further till I figure out the timing procedure so if any of you guys can help me my family and I would be very grateful! thank you in advance.
