Hello I recently installed a medium sized Hayden tube and fin cooler 18,000 gvw rating I believe and a autometer transmission temperature gauge (sender mounted in test port). I have a 96 xlt 4x4 with 4r55e transmission and transgo shift kit running Mercon v on 32" tires and was wondering if these are good temps.
It stays at 100* for a few miles then quickly starts to warm up to 150 and sticks around that unless I go on a longer drive in 95+ weather it might stick around 165
I was sitting in traffic for awhile on a hot day with a/c running and eventually climbed up to 195 and stayed there until I got moving again.
Then finally I got on the beach which was very soft and torn up so I was pushing it and temps climbed to 210 but no higher.
My.main question is
Is running the tranny at 150 most of the time too low?
And.......
It's been hot lately since install so when it cools down soon especially when winter comes around will it be over kill...?.... What's a good minimum fluid temp?
