Hey Guys, I'm new to this forum but Have a couple questions, I was at the mechanic the other day and I got my rear shocks replaced with Gabriel Ultras from autozone, I found a mechanic who installed them for 50 bucks..Not too bad.
While that was being completed, the mechanic told me that my Front shocks need to be replaced, I was thinkin about just getting the gabriel ultras for the front also, unless i'm able to use a different type that is better for the front like KYB's or something.
I also found that the one connector on my sway bar is snapped so i'm driving with only 1 connector attached, so my final question is should I just get a whole new swaybar/stabilizer, or just the connector for it?

I drive a 2001 ST, it has about 126K miles on it so i'm good in terms with it.

Thanks Guys

Just get the connector...The sway bars are pretty beefy...I would say to get all the sway bar mounts/bushings changed as well..And don't be fooled, the rubber ones are what you want. The poly ones will just destroy the metal parts over time...Plus rubber is cheaper...

Do you mean the front sway link to the lower A-arm? Shop around. They can be replaced one or two at a time.

yes the front. One of them is snapped off though and i was told if i get a replacement for the one side then the other would snap off...So yeah..i really don't know

Myphony69mustang,

Go get some Moog Problem Solver Sway bar endlinks, really cheap and easy to install yourself as well as the front shocks. Don't waste your money paying someone to install these parts, their too easy to do yourself, JMO.

As far as then end links go, replace both at the same time if you still have the stock ones in. they only take two wrenches to do the job as well as the shocks, you don't even have to jack up the truck to do either of these parts, just turn the wheel to the outside for better access.

Thank you Midnight, You have any other opinions on what parts of a st should be taken away from the stock parts for better to keep it going and good on fuel. I will look into the Moogs, I am 21 and don't have much automotive experience, so it will be quite an entertaining task for me to tackle.

Everyone's gotta learn at some point. There's plenty of project threads with pictures and step by step instructions on how to do almost anything to do for the ST on here and on mysporttrac.com under the projects section, alot of us are members over there too.

You could also youtube and see how it is done. that's what I turn to to fix almost anything before I call a mechanic!
