Headers on the 4.0L OHV V6 are a waste...been there, done that. Lost a bit of torque down low...Took them off, and sold them. Went back to stock manifolds.

As for the wrap, it TOO is a waste. It holds the moisture in, accelerating the rust build-up..I live in WA, where it rains....A LOT (well, not REALLY, but I am told keep up the lie, to keep the Californians out) and I have seen guys with less than 5 years on their wrapped long tube headers, and it rusted through the primaries where it meets the collector.

You don't have to take my word for it though. But when it happens to you too, just remember who told you first.

I never wrap them. I have seen them last as little as 2 years here in winter and road salt country. Some of them have no problem though. Either way, I think coating is a better option anyways.

...We don't salt the roads here...They SAND the roads....although I hear Seattle started using a sand/salt combo....although the tree huggers are VERY mad about the salt...

i dont know any coaters is why i figured wrapping, Turdle said couldnt powder coat had to ceramic coat them. Paint dont hold up that well is why i was looking at wrapping as well, see if before i order them if they cant be coated in some way. being here in Ohio its all Salt till they run out then its sand

Find a coater in your area- if they can do powder coat, they can most likely also ceramic coat. When I had a header ceramic coated, the guy told me that all ceramic coatings are the same- regardless of the name brand. The reason is because there is only one supplier of the ceramic coating raw material and everyone buys from them (of course).

I also wrapped a header. I sold the car about a year or so after I wrapped it- don't know how it's done since.

I had ceramic and wrapped with the cavy i had they lasted a good bit, it actually lasted longer then the car did, the car ummm yeahh we wont go there but was a hella investment...

for the ex, the headers and down pipe set up was only 10.00 more then stock, ive heard they suck and ive heard they better on gas and cooler engine for mudd running and crawlin i have turdle doing my other parts, i talked to him about powder coating the headers but he said ceramic didnt think to ask if he can do that

That is what they use here, a sand/salt combination.... though now days it is sand treated with chemicals and salts.... but yeah, same difference. Out here, even plastic rusts.

i feel that, ohio is bad at this, they used to clean the roads at the end of the season to stop it from making the cars even worse... now they run liquid salt at end of season makes it even worse.

hahahaha..... good one :D

Thought headers were ok if you had already completed the other pre-req mods such as ported heads?

Not saying it'd be some import power miracle as the rumor goes... just thought it was an ok mod. I know the best mod for 4.0 power is a 5.0....

yeah the best md is a 5.0 or 302, aint got that kinda money nor time, but my exhaust system is crap, and i mean crap from the weather up here

I know all too well bout not havin money to do an engine swap... I've talked myself out of it now, just due to the fact I need A/C down here during the summer. I would buy me a mustang if I needed to feel the power that bad.

From what I remember from living in NY stainless was the way to go for exhaust.

lol A/c whats that?!?! mine got removed, you only get like 1 hot month here in Ohio, rest of the time you can put the windows down... i like that, if you needed the power youd get a stang, i would get a new f150 raptor

My dream car is an 89-93 mustang gt, blue/ silver bottom, lots of goodies.

I like the raptor but I am not going to buy another "brand new" auto ever again... too much crap involved, and I didn't like the high car payment.
A SVT Raptor costs $35-40k?

My dream car goes for $4.5-6k in VG cond.

My new car was an 09 Chrysler 300 w/ a lifetime power-train warranty.... I got hit up for services not needed... like @ 18k mi owners manual said inspect rear end oil... I was told the fluid was grey and it was a $385 service, and if I didn't do it they would drop the warranty coverage. I tried arguing the point of if the fluid was grey then it was a defect in the seal therefore that's warranty. Yeah I lost. I got out from under the car and never looked back.

There's your problem.

My last new car was an 02 Sunfire to replace my Escort after my car accident. Got rid of it shortly after and I haven't bought anything new since.

I got rid of it(Chrysler) and got her a 01 Durango that she wanted... I don't like it... there isn't a manual transmission. It'll be paid off shortly so I'm okay with that.

Still Mopar

Still Mopar

Mopar= wife's

Ford= mine

Ford = much more reliable and more gas efficient, more comfy to drive.

Mopar = gas hog and not as comfortable to drive. Secretly she's a ford girl but I'm not supposed to say that out loud :D

I feel you. I let my ex-wife get a neon once.... key word here, ex.
