So my girl-friend calls me up today frantic that her 2002 explorer wont start so I tried to negotiate into the problem, realizing that in her hysteria this was the equivalent to kicking a dead horse, so I drive over there and check it out for my self. So this thing cranks like no other and completely stinks of fuel, I tried standing on the throttle to clear it and just gave up reaching the conclusion that it must be a spark issue and I am not fixing it on the side of the road.
Getting it into my barn where I work on old simple things I check the spark and it is firing on all six cylinders of the 4.0L engine and still cranks good however every plug is drenched in fuel so I checked the air intake to make sure it wasn't choking the engine out and that there was nothing that immediately struck me as odd which there really wasn't which leads me to believe that there is a fuel regulator or some electronic component that is defunct and in need of replacement. Not being a strong fuel injection mechanic I decided to consult a group of more knowledgeable explorer enthusiasts for an answer, Thanks In Advance, Coop
