i have a completely dymated truck with four 12-W3V2 JL subs in a 9.5 cubic foot box with two 6 inch ports and one 8100 MTX 1500 watt amp for bass.. and for mids and highs i have a set of 165 KP Focal components a set of 130 CV Focal two-ways all on a MTX 6304 amp.

here is a link to my truck pics without my 20's though...

Come on guys...

First, W3v2's and W7's are both great subs. It would be really hard to find someone who actually knows what they're talking about to think otherwise.

Maybe 3 or 4 or however many W3's are louder than one W7, but remember this, they're not much louder. Just think about it....it takes that many subs to beat just one W7. JL must be doing something right, especially to have such a great reputation for their products.

But come on, "W7's are absolute crap" "They're paperweights" yada yada yada....we all know that's just ignorant.

Oh yeah, and my favorite, *not restricted to just this thread*...."MY SYSTEM CAN BEAT ANYBODYS PERIOD!!!!"

Come on.....4th grade!!!!

Anyway, I love my 12W7, it sounds great, and I would buy it again if I had to do things over.

Your attitude about this is the only childish one. You are definately talking out the wrong end if you think a W3V2 is better than a W7. If the W3V2 is so great then why is JL bringing out a W3V3?

The only way a W3 is going to be louder than a W7 is if the W3 is in a perfect box and the W7 is in a piece of crap box. You really should check your info before you make a sweeping statement like "W7's are junk end of story." I hit 146.4 with 1 12W7 and 1000 watts! If you do the math that would be atleast 158 with 4 12W7s and 4000 watts. The vehicle has a lot to do with SPL as well and I hit 146 without ANY Dynomat!

Holty, how do you like the tweeters in that position? How is the imaging?

i think the fact that JL charges more for a w7 then a w3 says it all..if the w3 was so good then they would charge more for that..simple as that

the w7 is JLs new baby send an e-mail to a rep at JL and ask them if the w7 is better then the w3..they will kindly point out that it is..but they will also point out that the fact that the w7 can do well at an SPL comp is a sideaffect of them making an awesome SQ sub

u can not deny the facts if u do then u need to go back to bed and sleep off whatever drugs u are on

The tweets in that location sound AWESOME! What more can I say? I was going to flush mount them there but decided not to take the time to do it. I may do it later though. The key is to mount the tweets as close to the mids as possible within reason. A bad idea is to have your mids in your doors and mount the tweets on your A pillars. Even in the manual for the components it says to not mount them farther than 8 or 9 inches away from each other. The JL components are spectacular mainly because of the xovers. The work so well and are adjustable to suit your listening preferences. I have my gains all the way DOWN on my amp and they still scream with absolutely NO distortion what so ever! NONE!

You're simply a fool, dubbedexpo.

Stop being jealous for one second and give some god dam credit. If the W3v2 is that much better than the W7 as you keep claiming, then what's in it for JL? Why would they even have made it? The W7 is by far one of the top of the line subs on the market, so stop putting it down, both of you two claiming they're absolute crap.

There's a reason why the W7 wasn't called the W3v3, now is there?

Please go somewhere else with your attitude if you're going to act like that on these boards.

first off my system is set-up primarily for sound quality while watching dvd concerts, music videos, and movies. I make no claim that it is unbelievably loud or anything like that. However, it does hit over 150 dbs with zero distortion and the response is extremely close to linear from 22 hz up to 105. I'm also like i have said before not a huge fan of the w7, but i only say that because of the price of entry. I have played around with w7s in friends vehicles and in the shop a few times and they are very impressive (just not any more so than my 9515 mtx's). However, i've also played around with w0s, and w3s and although they are good subs too in their own elements they are crap in the company of these other subs we are talking about. Someone can sit here all day and yak about how loud their W0s hit or their w3s or whatever, but who really wants to listen to a w0 hitting that hard? its just noise. the w7 makes music and it makes it at a very high volume level.

not sure what my point up there really was, and although my system is only a little sq system maybe we can have a little competition to see whose is louder? maybe we could let some of the members here vote after looking at pics of both of our set-ups

figure you might not be smart enough to find my pictures so here's a shot that pretty much explains things-

holty- it looks great, that is one of the nicest prefab boxes out there and that sub is awesome. I think you could really improve the way it looks if you did something a little different with your amps and crossovers though.
