First, I would like to say hello. Now for the issue. I have a 95 xlt 4x4. It needed a new engine. Mechanic put a 96 4.0 in and now after driving for a while it will not start until the engine cools down. Start up fine in the morining and after 10 to 15 minutes of cool down. The mechanic did have to replace the wiring harness and the battery is new. Any help will be greatly apprieciated. Thanks.

When you say that it does not start ....
Does it crank and not start or just not crank?

Starts fine when engine is cool. After driving for a while, turn it off, try to restart and nothing. Does not crank, all power works lights, etc.

i think...

i think your starter is on its last leg- if it cold starts and wont after being driven . . . i had a similar situation, but not in a ford and that was the cause

I tend to agree that the starter, and maybe specifically the solenoid on the starter is either binding up or going open when hot.
