Make sure you have heat and AC

I have a 97 with the heater door problem that is evident by the door being stuck in AC or the heat position. You won't be able to switch it. I think this is in years 96-98 and it involves removing the entire dash to fix. Quoted as being 10 hours labor. Other than that its the usual problems, mostly transmission.

thank you all for your help..

here is a pic of my new car. (Bought it to day).

Hope its ok if I keep posting and asking questions on this board.

It is definatley OK to post here and ask questions. We don't see too much of foreign Explorers, so keep us informed how it works out for you.

Welcome to the site:)

Hi Swede!
Nice X you have there!
You say Skövde! thats funny, If you look at my pics you
will see Kråkeberget in Skövde in the background.
I was there at a 4X4 meeting in the spring this year.
I can tell you that this is the best site for all kind of
information about your X. It´s good to see you here!

Hola all again.

I was checking my manuall yesterday and its all in German.. :(

Any swede know where I can get one in Eng or Swedish?

And does anyone know if the Sterio (Originall Ford) has ISO conection?

U can get an Swede manual from any Ford dealer in your neigborhood they should bee abel too get it for you (if they want too put in the effort) and the original Ford Stereo dont have an ordinary iso connection but there is adaption cabels, from Ford- iso talk too your Stereo dealer or Ford..but why swap? all im missing is an Cd changer, the radio it self is ecellent never had better, used too have Blaupunkt/Sony or Clarion but this one beats them all, even the Clarion with Blackbox i had in my old car...funny actually Ford stereo.... :D

Well the Ford Sterio is realy great but I looked for a Sterio that could take MP3s and singel CD (Don't like changer) thats why iam changing Sterio.

But the sound Is great for original stuff.

And Thank you for all the inputt iam getting here.. you all are great.. thank you. :)

EDIT: i got the modell and things now on my Explorer.

its a Ford Explorer 4.0 V6 bauer edition from 97.

EDIT2: How do you get the Sterio out? (Original ford) I se 4 holes at every 90 degre angel but I dont have any special tool to take it out. Is there any trick? ive checked the manuall for in/unstallation tips but they don't exist.

Yes, you have to take it out with special tools.
I think they are the same as for clarion. All ford and
stereo dealers have them.
When I bought my X in Germany I asked the dealer if
he could get me a manual for the X in swedish,
that was no problem 3 weeks later the swedish
manual and guarantie for the X droped down in my
postbox:)

Hi guys
Just been looking at your x's and they look exactly the same spec as mine. Does this mean that all the export models are the same? Perhaps our Australian friends would like to comment. The only problem that I have with mine is the Ford dealers who don't seem to know a whole lot about them ( like recalls etc ). All the best.

it lookes that way

cant say that there is a big differance on all X'es i'v seen yet, well some of them dosn't have moonroof or leather but thats just minor difference, exept yours of corse you got the steering weel on the wrong side... :D

me again....

One more question...

how is the rust problem with the Explorer?

here in Sweden at winter the state salt the road like it was a stake....

Would you recomend a rusttreatment for the Swedich climat?

You guys crack me up!

On this side of the pond, Explorers are like ants at a picnic - everywhere! I have actually been at a 4-way stop with two other same year, same color Explorers at two of the other cross streets.

BTW, can you clue me what gas costs over there these days. Today I'm paying about $1.29US/gallon, which I think works out to about 1.33/gallon per Euro, or about .34 US per litre.

"Left? Right! RIGHT? no LEFT!! Left? Right!..." remember the movie?

:D :D :D

Well did you say .34$/litre? try 1US/litre over in Sweden... Yeap Gas Tax, is about .60US/litre over here, wanna swap? Its cool to pay taxes i Sweden...NOT!!

It doesn't matter which it's still an x and the best SUV that I have ever driven.

Gas is wait for it £0.759 per litre which works out at $4.77 per US gall.

I don't think the rust problem is really too bad. But assuming it's not too much hassle, a rust treatment probably wouldn't be an all-bad idea

Yeah!!!! Another '97 4DR owner
