Hey guys!

So I finally got my Shift linkage seal replaced and i was about to bolt everything up when I looked at it and something didn't seem right.

I don't remember this plunger or valve thing sticking this far out.

The ex is in park if it helps (more like parking brake fully engaged lol)

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about:

I'm pointing at it with my pinky, im holding up the detent with my fingers so you can see where the detent is hitting the gear select thing.

Any help on if it looks correct?

Thanks!

You can't really see where the detent is catching but it's the last indentation on that gear select thing. I probably sound like an idiot with my terminology, but I don't know much about transmissions haha.

As you can see the plunger/valve is overlapping the mating surface for the pan. but it can move just BARELY next to the edge of the mating surface. I was thinking when I pulled it apart the plunger/valve was inside or flush with the valve body.

Hope that helps!

I checked the thread and also the thread within the linked thread but nothing is telling me if my valve is too far over or not. If it helps the picture was taken with my feet laying out on the drivers side looking straight up. I just could have swore that valve was all the way in its bore in park. does it matter where its at?

It did move freely with everything disassembled, so maybe i installed it with it in the wrong place?

The basic question im asking is does that valve in the picture need to be inside its bore, meaning it would be sticking out towards the engine. Or in the back sticking out of towards the rear of the vehicle? I don't wanna put filter, fluid and pan back on to find out its gonna lock up when I change gears.

Thanks Brooklyn (and anyone else that will reply)!

Ok so an update. Is the rooster supposed to be able to move freely through all gears? Because mine wont move past one gear like the long rod is jammed up inside.

Sound wrong or right?

Thanks!
