hey fellas, for any of you who have run aux lights on the roof of your trac, i wanted to get suggestions on how to run the wires from the lights to the battery. im going to mount a pair of 6x9 lights right in fron of the wind screen on my cargo basket. my initial thought was going through the driver door and then into the firewall, but i was wondering if there was a better way. also, what about the relay? what did you do about that? any thoughts would be appreciated.

Honestly I know you not going to like what I did but I drilled a small hole in my roof caulked it than ran the wire down the headliner and pillar through the firewall and to the battery but my mistake was not running relays and I burned out my wires so when it gets nice and I have the time I am going to run bigger gauge wires and relays and better switches

The lights came with I think 16-18 but I'm redoing it with 10ga

Was just thinking of making quick disconnects on the wires so if I need to remove the light bar I can

When i did my wiring i made everything quick disconnectable. Its alot of extra work but you can check out what i did in my build thread in my signiture.

If your planning on going through your roof, here are some "pilot threads" i used to gather up what i thought i needed and helped me decide what i wanted to do.

I think this guys set up, although on a budget, did leak. it covers most of everything, and an informative how to properly go through your roof. i chose not to do exactly what he did.

FJ Cruiser thorough "through the roof" how to

These are the quick disconnect plugs that i have going to each light. so i can remove the lights and not the roof rack.

Weatherproof quick disconnect plugs - keep it clean wiring

Cannon plugs,
I always knew i would be putting a cannon plug set up for my roof rack lights. that way i could remove the whole roof rack with the wiring and everything. depending on what you want and what your willing to spend, you can get them anything proof, no worries about the weather, dust, water, nuclear war.. you get the point. they actually mount to your roof, so all you need to do is drill the holes and install, layer everything with epoxy and it will NEVER leak.
Military grade quick disconnect cannon plugs

If you need any help i can help you out.

yeh i plan to do mil grade cannon plugs for my light bar as i too need to upgrade to 10Ga.
