temporarily that is ..... on my 2008 Explorer

I know I am responsible for my troubles with the TC and ABS as I put it up on a lift and pressure washed it prior to repainting the entire undercarriage and now the TC/ABS dash lights are coming on and off randomly and at times the TC is activating just driving down the street and also the ABS will kick in and modulate the brakes when just try to stop at a stop light and it is of course 'summer'

I expect I got moisture in something although I did at the same time put on extra large 275/70 18's that absolutely fill the fender wells and do rub on the lower A frames at full lock when turning but with all 4 tires being of the same rolling diameter I am certain that has nothing to do with my intermittent TC/ABS woes, stupid stupid me and the pressure washer anyway ........

so until I can get this diagnosed where on a 2008 Explorer Sport Trac could I by pass or unplug the ABS/TC units so I can get back and forth to work without the brakes clamping on and off .. help

Try pulling the two 4x4 fuses under the hood. I believe that will deactivate the ABS and 4x4 engagement.

Update:
The correct fuse to pull in order to kill ABS and TC is fuse #6 - 40A in the power distribution box (PDB). Which is the integrated vehicle dynamics (IVD) fuse. This fuse basically kills the power to the Advance Trac system.

hey Flag, if you pull the fuse is it safe to drive the truck that way without breaking anything else? this is useful info if this ever happens to me down the line. ;)

Yes it's safe to drive, you will just have to be more careful driving in rain, snow etc.

I finally got back to the Explorer as I was running it with the ABS/traction fuse pulled and it was no longer grabbing at the left front calliper around town

problem was that new hub some **** sold me on eBay Canada as being Moog and it was a no name nothing

All it said on the box which I did not even open for a month or so after it arrived was Top Quality and nothing else. I was a fault for not checking it out but I was coming home from AZ and just very very busy after being away for 6 months ....

perhaps I should have known better when a Moog was only a 100 bucks and it was not until I received recognition of payment that I saw that it went to someone from the land of magic carpets. He had 18 of these 'out of spec' hubs listed.

the ABS started acting up immediately upon installion of the hub but I had also had the truck up on the lift and had power washed and then repainted the entire under carriage and I immediately chalked the problem up to moisture from my power wash which I know is a bad thing to do

I did not check that hub for wobble when I first bolted the wheel on but when I did it was really really bad !

the ABS sensor was picking up that and was going wonky

ordered a new Motorcraft from Rock Auto all is well

I have about 350 bucks tied up in a hubs which is what it would have cost if I had purchased it in Canada to start with

lesson learned

if it seems to good to be true then perhaps it is
