Need to get my truck into college trim

Yeah right now that is the plan. After seeing PAExplorer's truck on 33" BFG Muds, I need to do it! My rims will be in the For Sale forum tomorrow, hopefully they sell quick because I want to get this going!

The easy part of a BL is getting the blocks in... the real PITA is bullcrap like the fanshroud, shift linkage, steering linkage, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

The hardest part with my 2" BL was getting the body mount bolts loose, which obviously has to be done regardless. Dropping the fan schroud was easy b/c the brackets came with the kit, or you could leave it in place and just cut the bottom off with wire cutters. Took a total of 30 minutes. Needed no modification to the shift linkage, or steering linkage (loosen the steering column nut, do the body lift, tighten the bolt back down, piece of cake), or ebrake cable.

The only fabrication I had to do was on the rear bumper but you don't have one, and bumper brackets can be bought for the front bumper. Heck, maybe Digger can sell you his off of his truck.

Another important thing that I didn't see anyone mention is that if your planning on doing this partly because of the winter/snow/ice then any Mud Terrains's are a bad choice, especially since your only 2wd. Mud Terrains with their big knobs are like big bald tires on ice and snow and get bad traction, trust me i know. If you have your heart set on them anyway (like i did) then the only solution is to sipe them. It makes a huge difference, the only trouble for me was I couldn't find a shop that could do it and I had to do it by hand with a utility knife. If you want more info/pics on this then let me know.

congrats on the change over ;)

what a sad joke. I built my truck while living at college, it has zero door dings and hasn't been broken into. also, all you need to fix the ride quality is $300 for the air lift kit, after which it will ride/handle better than lifted or even stock. do what you want, but be prepared to regret it.

I dont think you will regret it at all. I have had 2 Dropped Explorers in my "Fleet" before and while it was fun I would drive a lifted one over lowered anyday. I love the lowered look, but I am driving a SUV and feel like a Subaru should not be sitting higher than my SUV. Like I said I love both dropped and lifted, and I think you will have fun with the truck lifted.
As easy as they are to lift/lower I dont think you will regret anything.

it will be more of a regretting the wheels than anything else. He'll never get enouigh $ out of them to make it seem like a good deal after the fact.

I really cant wait to see this. I think it will look sweet. I love how mine stands out when I drive around my college town. And for the record I am turning 33s with stock 3.27 gears. I also have not noticed any power loss what so ever, nor has anyone that rides with me. Gas mileage does suck though.
