It's not mine, but can anyone help me decipher what this girl needs?
Ok, I need help here. I have a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer W Series. It's a 4.3 litre engine, 6 cylinder fuel injection, 4 wheel drive, PL, PW, automatic blah blah blah. Recently it has been really REALLY boggy when driving and I haven't had as much power as I normally do. So at first I thought that maybe it was just because of the climate/altitude change (moving from hot, dry Alberta to cool, wet BC)but it didn't seem to get any better after being here for a while so we decided to do a little maintenance on it. We changed out the plugs, the air filter and the distributor/rotor thingamabobber doohickey. At first the problem seemed to be solved, but alas that wasn't the case. Although I have my power back, the boggy problem remains. It's almost as though it's not letting enough gas through, it will surge and die and surge and die (not really stalling but really sputtering). So we knew that the fuel filter should be changed but because of the position of the filter we were trying to hold off until my tank wasn't quite so full. However, that was not to be either; today when we were driving into town I lost "power", the engine just didn't want to rev when I gave it gas. So I barely got pulled off the road and the truck stalled (it stalled on me during an idle the other day, and apparently twice on 27 earlier today). We did a fuel filter change on the side road that I'd turned off onto, but I am still having the problem. It's still bogging, and seeming to not be feeding enough fuel through to keep the engine going. It's not idling smoothly at all. Which brings me to my question, exactly how many fuel filters are on this thing, we've been told ONE and we've been told TWO. The one we changed is directly under the rear drivers side passenger compartment, just a little ways forward of the fuel tank; is there another one mounted on the firewall or near the injectors?? I know I should take it in but I'm trying to save myself a buck or hundreds so any input or help would be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks in advance.
