Hey Y'all,
I'm new to all this and have had my baby for 10 years! She's in need of a complete new speaker system. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm tired of local places treating me like I'm stupid and have loads of cash. First off, I'm a teacher on a VERY tight budget. Second, I know when someone is trying to con me.
So, if any of y'all can guide me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it greatly!

To answer some of your questions:
I love all music...I teach music in fact and am a huge fan of rock and R&B.
I have a JVC Chameloen CD player.
I need a new subwoofer too.

Go to a sound center and listen to speakers and then select the one you can afford that sounds best to YOU.

I assume that your stereo is all stock? What is your budget? What kind of music do you listen too? What are you goals for the system?

You just need 5X7 or 6X8 speakers. (they're one of the same). Research around and then find an online retailer for a deal. LOTS of choices. Might want to try Crutchfield.com, if not to buy (which is not a bad option), but to research differerent choices.

welcome

Yeah, Celly suggested the right thing, you'll need either the 5x7 or 6x8 speakers, and then for a subwoofer, unless you want a TON of bass, ive reccomended the Infinity BassLink, its a powered sub, in a compact enclosure, sounds great with all music, all you need for it is the power wires, and either the RCA's from your headunit, or you can splice it into one of your rear speakers.

As for speakers, I would reccomend Sony, its not very costly, I have no job, and im 16, i have a set of they're 2-Way 5x7's and you wouldnt even believe the sound they produced over stock, it was a night and day difference.

Heres the link for that BassLink sub:

Hope this helped a little.

If you decide no on a subwoofer, the aftermarket speakers will make a HUGE difference, id say for you since your on a tight budget, try just doing the speakers first.

Make sure theyre 2-way, if you can find a decent price on a set of 3-ways that fit, go for that, at LEAST 100 watts.
