Hey all,

Today my wife was driving the X home from work when something hit the windshield and went right through it on the passenger side scaring the **** right out of her.

I'm looking to get a replacement from a salvage yard so I was wondering what year X's windshield's will fit my 98 Limited.

Thanks!

You should be okay from 95 to 2001. It might be difficult to get out the salvage windshield because they are glued in.

Indeed, it's VERY difficult to get them out, and almost impossible to do so without mangling it. If you've got the tools, more power to ya'.

I'd call the local glass shop. They did mine for $200 (US).

Mine looked like this after it met its demise with a rock on the freeway:

It took them three Guardian Glass windshields that were all rippled before they went ahead and ordered a Carlite replacement. The Guardian ones were giving me headaches from all the ripples in the glass. The Carlite is perfect!

Ford no longer makes their own glass. The OEM source is Carlite. Aftermarket suppliers like Guardian apparently have quality control issues. I'll never use anything but Carlite. It's high-quality and only costs marginally more than the aftermarket stuff.

I have had no problems using PPG or LOF/Pilkington.

With Safelite Auto Glass' brand, yes. Look elsewhere.

For a 03 Civic EX coupe, I paid $175 cash installed for a Pilkington. That was only $25 more than the Safelite one. Well worth the small difference.
