I forgot to put the prefilter on my KKM intake this time, got stuck in a deep puddle (well its bigger then a puddle) engine stalls out, gotta wait for filter to dry out, but it makes it out.
Morning after, truck sputters, barely idles, won't rev past 3500, etc, so I figure i should clean the filter and MAF. Did both and it ran a bit better, and there was a lot of crap on the MAF.
Had to then drive 469km home from my friends house burning rich, black smoke, and barely idling at stoplights. Overheated once, had to pull over and cool down (trans had no pressure to go uphill, thats how hot it was). Then it overheated again, and blew the heater control valve. Thankfully there was enough left of the fitting I bypassed the heater core and connected the two hoses. But the gas it burned though. Cost 40$ more to drive home downhill. This was a tough drive up (Fraser Canyon in BC to 100 mile house) and I did it in a full tank of gas and had 7 litres left.
Today I find that there was a big clump of mud still on one of the filaments of the MAF. Picked it off, sprayed it down again, compressed air to blow it out. Truck now runs like perfect.
Never forget to put a prefilter on, or else it'll cost you a lot of trouble, overheating in 37 degrees celcius (98.6 fahrenheit) weather, and causing you a lot worse mileage downhill, pulling over three times overheating due to the MAF providing the wrong mixtures and overworking the engine.
Pictures and videos to follow.
