I've got an interesting problem occurring with my Explorer and I would like to know if anyone might have experience this before. I'm currently out of country, so I apologize for not having codes in front of me right this minute. The issue(s) at hand were simply; when I start my explorer and begin to drive, everything works as it should. I come to a stoplight and stop, still everything working. Here it gets interesting. When I release the brake and push on the gas pedal, it appears as though my shifting points have jumped up an additional 500-800rpms! If I manually shift through the gear sequence, everything works correctly. However (another interesting note) if I put my foot on the brake again, shift the transmission into neutral and then back into drive, all my shift points go back to normal and no longer rev higher than normal.... until the next stoplight.

Any thoughts?

Sounds to me like transmission issues.

does it feel like it's taking off in 2nd or 3rd gear? Do you get a flashing O/D light?

Mine does something like this intermittenly. Stop, accelerates slowly from light RPMs up, let up, manually shift from D to 2 and back to D, goes back to shifting normally. Sometimes I get a flashing O/D light that resets after restarting.
