new battery and new issues

sorry for making my first post a question, but here goes . . .

i just replaced the battery in my daughters 02 Explorer. it had the original and i wanted to send her off to school right.

so, i bought and installed the new battery. everything seemed to go fine.
started right up.

then i started to notice things:
-the interior lights would not go out automatically when the engine was turned off.
-with the engine off, the door locks from the inside did not work.
-with the engine off, the power seat would not adjust.
-the radio started to search for installed CDs

all these things worked before and still work with the engine running.
it is just that when the engine is off, the accessories don't funciton properly.

i can't for the life of me figure out what i could have done wrong.
there is no way for the cables to be installed backwards. i cleaned the cable terminals but they weren't that corroded to begin with.

i am nervous that i sent her off with a broken vehicle.

any help would be appreciated.

Welcome Bruce. Sometimes you can get rid of weird electrical glitches by resetting the computer. Easiest way is to unhook the battery ground clamp for a few minutes. Good luck - let us know if it works.

i got a text from my daughter today and she said the truck is running fine.
no word on if the accessories have settled in to normal operating.

i am wondering if having the battery disconnected for 1.5 hours and a new off the shelf battery which may have had low voltage could have had something to do with what i experienced.

driving the truck at freeway speeds may have topped it off ??

she isn't as in tune with how things are working as i would be. she turns the key and it starts so it must be OK . . .
if you have ever had kids, this might sound familiar.
