I just got back from Moroso Motorsports Park. Tonight was a very busy night at the Strip. It was also very hot and humid (about 85 degrees with 80% humidity) Tons of cars in the sportsman lanes. I only got 3 runs in 4 hours.
My first run of the night was a 14.41 @93.37 mph. This run was made straight off of the highway. I didn;t even have the chance to let the explorer cool down. oh well. I was pleased with this run. I left the shifter in D and let the AODE do its thing. The 60' time was great at 1.960 seconds. The mph sucks, but this is a truck.
On the second run, I must have had a slight bit more wheel spin. my 60' time dropped to a 1.965 seconds. This time I decided to manually shift the 2-3 shift. My second run was 14.39 @ 93.37. The 2-3 shift seemed to have helped gain back what was lost on the 60', but the mph was exactly the same. Strange.
Finally, I decided to "ice" the intake manifold for the 3rd round. I also lined up in the other lane this time. I also planned to do the 2-3 shift manually again. During the long wait between rounds, the ice had a good chance to cool off the hot intake manifold.
Finally, I pulled up to the staging area. I brought the revs up and launched on the gren light. I new the tires stuck better this time because I could my subwoofer box slamm into the tailgate. Also, the sunroof shade slid back into the open position. The 60' time was 1.90 this time. I let the AODE shift the 1-2, and I shifted the 2-3. I ran through the traps in 14.22 @ 93.87 mph.
For the weight (4850 # with driver) and the ET and mph, horsepower is in the 330 range.
I was hoping for a 13, but that will have to wait for the cooler days of winter. Maybe by then, I will have my new heads, intake, and cam on the Xplorer.
