New brakes. No good?

I just put all new front brakes in my '94 ex. New calipers, new pads, and i got the rotors "turned" ( i believe that is the correct word?). Now i have a problem, every little bump i go over my pad rattles againt the pistion in the caiper, and the inside of my rotor. So i put it on some stands and the wheels off, and sure enough i can move the inside pad with my finger. What do i do??? Any help woud be great.

You need new rattle clips. Little metal springy things that keep the pads from (ratteling).

Yes i did bleed them, where do i get new clips at?

And is this because i turned the rotors that they are thinner then normal?

If you didn't leak any fluid you shouldn't have to bleed them. Look a CSKauto or your local parts store for anti rattle clips. Also make sure that your caliper adjustment pins are in good shape and well lubed.

NOW WAY dude you crazy or didnt see that he put new calipers on also!if you can move them around that much then there is air still in the system start from the back passenger side and work your way to the front drivers side.they should be just tight enough where your rotor will spin and no turning the rotor will not cause this much play unless there turned them out of spec.also if its new pads then they should have the clips with the pads.how are you bleeding them?

Calm down didn't see that he replaced the calipers (Doing 2 things at once) so yes you need to bleed them.

Yea so the auto part stores around here are being a bunch of Dic*s. They will not jsut let be buy the rattle clip, they said they only way i can get thoes is if i buy a hardware set that also come with expantion pins, but mine are brand new, so i dont know what to do now.. It is really pointless to buy a $15 set for a clip that would cost a buck. I am sure that i bleed the breaks correctly. I had someone check over it beofre i started putting my wheels back on and all that fun stuff.

Adn now that i think about it, how would rattle clips help? I thought the were for your outer break pads... my inner are what are moving around..... And the noise stops when i apply pressure to my break pedal.

rattle clips are for outter and inner pads. Its one piece that fits across the top and bottom of the caliper.

Well i figured out that the problem is this... Where the inner break pad slides into the knuckel, where the pad sits is worn down from years of driving, and now the pad can just shake around in there. But when i hit the brakes obvioulsy it puts pressure on the pad due to the piston inthe caliper. Will thoes rattle clips shown above from rockauto fix that???

did you get little clips with the new brake pads they should be put on the back pad and that will help stop it from moving around up and down

i put new rotors and calipers and pads when i did mine and i really didnt know what those clips were till i read this, then today i started having the same problem and i took it back apart and called advance and asked them what those clips where and they show me where to put them.i just got done putting them on and drove around no more rattling rear pads or it help a whole lot

No i did not use the old ones, i made sure that i used the new ones... but i still dont think that you fully understand what i am talking about. I am new at working on cars, i have a lot of knowledge about working on them, but i am a little slow on the terms and proper part names to explain my self so you are going to have to try to stick with me.

The front disc brake on my passenger side. The brake pad that is on the inside is rattling, but not up and down... It is side to side. The reason i have come to find is that the cast iron slot that the pad slides into ( i believe it is called that knuckel?) is worn down, and since it is worn down that width of the cast iron slot is wider then the edges of the brake pad. Length wise they fit, but the width is where the problem lies.

I will try to get a picture up tonight so everyone can see visually what i am talking about.

I am sorry if i am confusing and/or aggervating anyone haha.
(The pad that i am talking about is not that pad that you would see if you looked driectly at it, like you were changing the tire, it is the one that you cant see hiden behind the rotor)

The clips fit inside that channel. the clips are a thin springy piece of metal that hols presstue on the tit of the pad keeping it from ratteling. Sometimes they wear out....i'd replace them.
